How to calculate
Revenue and total cost are two linear functions of quantity. Subtract variable cost per unit from selling price to find the contribution per unit. When that contribution is positive, divide fixed cost by it to find where the lines meet. Round upward only for the first whole-unit quantity without a loss.
Revenue=pq; cost=F+vq; profit=(p−v)q−F; break-even q=F/(p−v), when p>v
Worked example
Fixed costs of 1200, variable cost of 8 and selling price of 20 give a contribution of 12 per unit. Break-even is 100 units. At 150 units, revenue is 3000, cost is 2400 and profit is 600, all in the entered currency.
Assumptions and input details
Use a single product or a constant product mix, constant unit price and constant unit variable cost over the range considered. Enter all amounts in one currency; no currency conversion or tax adjustment is assumed. Inputs accept fractions and decimals with up to six places, magnitude at most 1e6 and reduced denominator at most 1e6. A whole-unit threshold avoids a loss; it can equal zero profit. Nonpositive contribution is classified separately. The chart is a scenario, not a demand forecast.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Fraction arithmetic determines costs, profit and the whole-unit ceiling exactly. Chart positions and displayed decimal amounts are rounded.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
