Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Apply the divider at the positive input; the signal goes directly to the negative input. Evaluate the threshold for each actual output state.
Vthreshold=(Vref/Rref+Vout/Rfeedback)/(1/Rref+1/Rfeedback)
Worked example
2.5 V reference, 0/5 V output, 10 kΩ reference and 100 kΩ feedback give rising threshold 2.72727273 V and falling threshold 2.27272727 V.
Assumptions and input details
High output must exceed low. Ideal low-impedance reference and output states, no input current or resistor tolerance. An open-drain output needs its loaded high level entered explicitly; device common-mode and switching limits are not checked.

Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
SI prefixes are explicit: for example, milli means one thousandth, micro one millionth and kilo one thousand. Changing a unit changes the interpretation of the entered number.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Compare inverting/non-inverting resistor gain around a reference and apply your entered output-voltage bounds.
Compare unloaded and resistively loaded divider voltage, branch currents and dissipation.
Search entered resistor values for the closest one- or two-part series/parallel target, with a common tolerance range.
