How to calculate
Density is mass divided by volume. Rearrange the same relationship to find mass or volume. Input units are converted to kilograms and cubic meters internally, then results are converted into the selected and listed units.
ρ = m/V; m = ρV; V = m/ρ
Worked example
A mass of 1,000 g occupying 1 L has density 1 kg / 0.001 m³ = 1,000 kg/m³ = 1 g/mL. A density of 800 kg/m³ and volume 2 L imply mass 1.6 kg.
Assumptions and input details
Mass cannot be converted to volume without a density. A mass ounce is different from a fluid ounce. US liquid, US dry and Imperial measures are separate. Traditional regional units are labeled by definition; a rice-cooker cup explicitly means 180 mL and is different from a traditional Japanese gō.
Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
The 19 mass definitions distinguish avoirdupois and troy measures, metric and regional measures. Japanese kin is 600 g; mainland Chinese shijin is 500 g.
The 36 volume definitions distinguish US liquid, US dry and Imperial measures. Cups carry an explicit definition. Japanese shō is 2401/1331 L and a gō is one tenth of it; the explicitly labelled 180 mL rice cup is separate.
Regional measures are not interchangeable merely because their names look similar. This is a documented selection, not a claim to include every historical unit.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Enter a chemical formula and mass or amount of substance. Find molar mass, moles and particle count with an element-by-element breakdown.
Find a circle’s diameter, circumference and area from its radius. Choose regional length units and see a labeled circle and conversion table.
