Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Preserve the entered residual order; sum adjacent squared differences and divide by total squared residual magnitude.
DW=Σ(eᵢ−eᵢ₋₁)²/Σeᵢ²
Worked example
Residual sequence 1,0,−1,0,1 gives numerator 4 and denominator 3, so DW=1.33333333.
Assumptions and input details
Residuals must not all be zero. This reports the statistic only: regression design, intercept, lagged outcomes, missing intervals and model-specific critical tables matter. No universal p-value or significance decision is supplied.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Fit y=a+bx to 2–100 entered coordinate pairs. Inspect the regression equation, correlation, R², predictions, residuals and a scatter plot.
Calculate a selected lag autocorrelation using the common global mean and full centered square-sum denominator.
Evaluate paired actual and forecast values with signed bias, absolute errors and explicitly defined percentage metrics.
