Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Retain the reported dose quantity and convert its units to sieverts, then the requested output unit.
1 Sv = 100 rem; 1 mSv = 100 mrem
Worked example
1 mSv is 100 mrem and 1000 µSv. One rem is 0.01 Sv.
Assumptions and input details
Keep equivalent dose or effective dose as the same reported quantity throughout. A common unit does not convert equivalent dose into effective dose. Absorbed dose in Gy needs specified radiation and, where applicable, tissue weighting; those are not assumed here. No health assessment, allowable level, treatment or dose-rate calculation is provided.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
