How to calculate
Use the selected exact frame-rate fraction for elapsed time. Decode timecode using nominal frame labels and subtract skipped drop-frame labels. For spans, subtract the start frame index from the exclusive end frame index.
Elapsed seconds=frames×rate denominator/rate numerator; span=end frame−start frame
Worked example
240 frames at 24 fps last 10 seconds and have non-drop timecode 00:00:10:00. At 30000/1001 fps, drop-frame 00:10:00;00 is frame 17982 and lasts 599.9994 seconds.
Assumptions and input details
Constant-frame-rate arithmetic, with nonnegative counts up to 1 billion frames. 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94 selections mean the stated fractions, not truncated decimals. Drop-frame skips labels, never media frames: 2 labels at nominal 30 or 4 at nominal 60 each minute except multiples of ten. Skipped input labels are rejected. Timecode requires 2–6 hour digits, minutes and seconds 00–59, and frame field below the nominal rate; colon or semicolon is accepted and the selector determines the convention. No 24-hour wrapping or inclusive final frame is assumed. Seconds round explicitly to whole frames; the rounding difference is reported. No variable-frame-rate or actual media-file conversion.

Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Estimate media file size from duration and average audio/video bitrates, or solve the video bitrate available under a file-size limit.
Add or subtract up to 100 durations. Use signed clock durations or decimal hours, minutes or seconds, then compare the exact total and running sums.
Find transfer time, required nominal speed or data size. Distinguish bits, bytes, decimal and binary units and include an explicit effective-throughput percentage.
