How to calculate
Sum component mole amounts and masses. Apply Dalton’s law to each mole fraction and use total moles in the ideal gas equation.
yi=ni/Σn; Pi=yi Ptotal; V=nRT/P; mixture molar mass=ΣniMi/Σni
Worked example
3 mol of a 28 g/mol gas and 1 mol of a 32 g/mol gas have mean molar mass 29 g/mol. At total pressure 100 kPa the partial pressures are 75 and 25 kPa.
Assumptions and input details
One to thirty nonreacting ideal gases with nonnegative mole amounts and positive molar masses. At least one amount is positive. Pressure is absolute, temperature kelvin and all gas components share the same temperature/volume. No chemical reaction, condensation, vapor equilibrium or real-gas correction. Component labels are user text, not validated gas identities. The arithmetic does not assess breathability, toxicity or pressure-system suitability.

Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
