Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Treat every entered allowed charge as covered and every modeled member payment as eligible for the entered cap.
Deductible portion=min(allowed,deductible); member=min(cap,deductible portion+(allowed−deductible portion)×coinsurance)
Worked example
Allowed amount 2000, remaining deductible 500, coinsurance 20% and remaining cap 1000 give member payment 800 and insurer share 1200, in the chosen currency.
Assumptions and input details
A simplified arithmetic model only. No copay, premium, noncovered charge, balance billing, separate family limits or actual plan terms. Cap and deductible relationship is entered; the calculator does not establish coverage or a real payable bill.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
