How to calculate
Use mass times specific heat as each body’s thermal capacity. The equilibrium temperature is the capacity-weighted initial temperature when the system exchanges no heat with its surroundings.
Teq=Σ(m c T)/Σ(m c); heat gained i=mi ci(Teq−Ti)
Worked example
Mixing 1 kg at 80°C with 3 kg at 20°C, all with the same specific heat, gives an ideal equilibrium temperature of 35°C.
Assumptions and input details
Enter 2–20 bodies, each with positive mass (1e−12–1e12 kg) and positive constant specific heat (up to 1e9 J/(kg K)). Specific heat is always per kg even when the mass input unit changes. Temperatures must be at least absolute zero. An insulated closed system with no phase change, reaction, heat of mixing or evaporation is assumed. Add a container as a separate row if its heat capacity matters. No material property or phase state is inferred from temperature.

Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
The 19 mass definitions distinguish avoirdupois and troy measures, metric and regional measures. Japanese kin is 600 g; mainland Chinese shijin is 500 g.
Regional measures are not interchangeable merely because their names look similar. This is a documented selection, not a claim to include every historical unit.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
