Calculation steps

How to calculate
Group response counts into promoters, passives and detractors, then subtract detractor share from promoter share.
NPS=100×(ratings 9–10 count−ratings 0–6 count)/total responses
Worked example
60 promoters, 30 passives and 10 detractors among 100 responses give NPS 50. Passives remain in the denominator even though they do not add to the numerator.
Assumptions and input details
Whole nonnegative response counts for unique 0–10 ratings; at least one response is required. The score is on a −100 to 100 scale, not an average rating or the percentage satisfied. This descriptive calculation does not assess survey bias, sampling uncertainty, benchmarks or future customer behavior. NPS is a metric of the Net Promoter System.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
