Present Value and Cash-Flow Discount Calculator
Discount signed cash flows at their entered times and sum their present values. Keep initial outlays, future inflows and the undiscounted total visible.

Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Divide each cash flow by(1+r)^t and add the results. A time-zero cash flow is unchanged. Enter every cost explicitly as a negative cash flow; no initial cost is automatically inserted.
PVt=CFt/(1+r)^t; net present value=ΣPVt
Worked example
An outlay−1000 at time0 and receipts600 at times1 and2, discounted10% per period, give−1000+600/1.1+600/1.1²≈41.322314 in net present value.
Assumptions and input details
Use1–100 rows; times are nonnegative and at most1000 periods, including fractional periods. Signed cash flows have magnitude≤1e12. Rate is−99% to100% per period. Duplicate times are allowed and each row is included. All flows share one currency and one period definition. Large rate/time combinations can exceed finite result limits. Cash-flow amounts and discount rates are entered scenarios; taxes, fees and inflation are included only if already reflected in those inputs. NPV alone is not a project recommendation.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Model an initial deposit plus equal periodic contributions. Compare beginning/end contributions, nominal/effective annual rates, total deposits and before-tax growth.
Calculate a fixed-rate monthly loan payment and repayment schedule. Compare extra principal payments, total interest and a separately paid upfront fee.
Apply an entered constant growth or decay rate to an initial quantity. Compare periodic and continuous models, view a time curve and find doubling time or half-life.
