How to calculate
Condition on each stratum’s margins, aggregate its observed-minus-expected a cell and separately estimate the common odds ratio.
Common OR=Σ(ad/n)/Σ(bc/n); CMH χ²=(max(0,|Σ(a−E[a])|−0.5))²/ΣVar(a)
Worked example
For a stratum with fixed margins, expected a=(a+b)(a+c)/n. The default two strata give common estimated odds ratio 6.625.
Assumptions and input details
At least two strata with whole nonnegative counts; each needs n≥2. Assumes common-direction association and independent strata; no homogeneity test or causal adjustment guarantee. A zero odds-ratio denominator is displayed as undefined rather than a finite estimate.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
