How to calculate
Normalize conductivity to watts per meter per kelvin using energy, time, length and temperature-interval factors.
k_SI=value×energy factor/(time factor×length factor×temperature-interval factor)
Worked example
1 Btu(IT)/(h·ft·°F) is approximately 1.73073467 W/(m·K). One W/(cm·K) is 100 W/(m·K).
Assumptions and input details
Conductivity is a material property at its stated conditions. Btu uses the International Table definition and cal uses the thermochemical definition. A Fahrenheit interval is 5/9 kelvin; the temperature-scale offset 32 is not used. A Btu·inch numerator and a per-foot denominator are separate unit definitions. This converts an entered property without supplying a material value or assembly R-value.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
