Calculation steps

How to calculate
Discount each future coupon and final principal using yield per coupon period. For inverse mode solve the unique present-value equation.
Price=Σ(coupon/(1+y/f)^k)+face/(1+y/f)^N; nominal annual YTM=f×periodic IRR
Worked example
Face 1000, annual coupon 5%, semiannual payments and five years remaining at 6% nominal annual yield has price about 957.348986.
Assumptions and input details
Regular equal coupon periods; valuation immediately after a coupon payment so there is no accrued interest. No default, call, put, inflation index, fees, tax or irregular first/last periods. YTM assumes scheduled payments and is not a promised realized return. Nominal annual yield is compounded at the coupon frequency; it differs from effective annual yield. 1–600 remaining periods. No live market data or national tax rules are inferred. Enter consistent amounts in one currency unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
