Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Apply the standard pairwise-independent row-hash sizing bound for a nonnegative insertion-only stream.
Width=ceil(e/ε); depth=ceil(ln(1/δ)); point overestimate bound=ε×total updates
Worked example
ε=0.01 and δ=0.01 give 272 columns and five rows. Four-byte counters occupy 5440 bytes, with additive point-query bound 10000 for one million updates.
Assumptions and input details
Ideal independent row hashes and nonnegative unit increments; point queries never underestimate absent overflow. The error bound is probabilistic for a fixed queried item, not a simultaneous guarantee for every key. Counter overflow and language-object overhead are not modeled.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
