Calculation steps

How to calculate
Normalize the rate to bits per second while preserving bit/byte and prefix definitions.
1 MB/s=8 Mbit/s; 1 Mibit/s=1048576 bit/s
Worked example
100 Mbit/s is 12.5 decimal MB/s before protocol overhead. The same bit rate is about 11.920929 MiB/s.
Assumptions and input details
A rate is a quantity per second, not stored capacity. MB/s and Mbit/s differ by eight under the same decimal prefix. Binary and decimal prefixes remain separate. No protocol overhead, advertised service guarantee, payload efficiency or download duration is assumed.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
