Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Process constant income phases in order, adjust spending by the entered monthly-equivalent growth factor, then add each month’s signed events to the cash balance.
Closing cash=opening cash+income−spending+signed events
Worked example
With 6000 cash, no income, spending 2000/month and no events, closing balances are 4000, 2000 and 0 over three months; a fourth month produces a 2000 funding gap.
Assumptions and input details
Calendar months are indexed from one, with all flows modeled at month end. Phases must finish exactly at the projection horizon, 1–120 months. Negative projected cash is an unfunded gap, not an assumed approved loan; no credit interest, investment return, liquidation delay, benefits or emergency-reserve target is inferred. Income should be spendable cash after any deductions you intend to include. No live market data or national tax rules are inferred. Enter consistent amounts in one currency unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
