Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Create preparation, work/rest intervals and between-set recovery in sequence. Omit or include each set’s final rest exactly as selected, then add cooldown.
Total=preparation+sets×(rounds×work+rests per set×rest)+(sets−1)×recovery+cooldown
Worked example
Three sets of four 40-second work intervals, three 20-second rests per set, two 120-second between-set recoveries, 60-second preparation and 120-second cooldown total 1080 seconds, or 18 minutes.
Assumptions and input details
At most 500 work intervals. Between-set recovery is additional to any included final rest; it does not replace it. Zero-duration rest, recovery, preparation and cooldown rows are omitted. This is a duration planner without live alarms, exercise intensity, heart-rate guidance or training recommendations.
Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Count elimination or round-robin matches and estimate court slots with a round-by-round barrier.
Add or subtract up to 100 durations. Use signed clock durations or decimal hours, minutes or seconds, then compare the exact total and running sums.
Find pace, elapsed time or distance from the other two. Compare minutes per kilometer and mile, inspect split times and estimate constant-pace finish times.
