Calculation steps

Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.

    How to calculate

Divide dry mass by the entered usable machine capacity and round up. Spread the mass evenly over that many loads, group loads across parallel machines, and multiply the per-program resource figures.

    Loads=ceil(dry mass/(rated capacity×usable fraction)); elapsed=ceil(loads/machines)×program time

    Worked example

18 kg at 7 kg rated capacity and an entered 85% usable fraction needs 4 loads, balanced at 4.5 kg each. One machine with 60-minute programs takes 4 hours, using 200 L and 2.8 kWh at the entered per-load figures.

    Assumptions and input details

Use the capacity and consumption figures for the actual fabric/program combination. The usable fraction is your planning assumption, not a recommended fill level. Sorting constraints, drying, loading time, automatic load sensing and variable cycle behavior are omitted. Resource use is charged per completed load, including partially filled loads. Blank prices remain unknown. Fixed utility charges are excluded.

    Unit definitions

Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.

The 19 mass definitions distinguish avoirdupois and troy measures, metric and regional measures. Japanese kin is 600 g; mainland Chinese shijin is 500 g.

The 36 volume definitions distinguish US liquid, US dry and Imperial measures. Cups carry an explicit definition. Japanese shō is 2401/1331 L and a gō is one tenth of it; the explicitly labelled 180 mL rice cup is separate.

Regional measures are not interchangeable merely because their names look similar. This is a documented selection, not a claim to include every historical unit.

    Using this calculator

Can I enter my own problem?

Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.

    Are the results exact?

Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.

    Is my input uploaded?

The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
