Calculation steps

How to calculate
Reduce output/input rate by the integer gcd. Convert frame counts as an exact rational and compare nearest whole-frame output duration.
L=output/gcd; M=input/gcd; ideal output frames=input frames×L/M
Worked example
44100 to 48000 frames/s reduces to 160/147: every 147 input frames align with 160 output frames. One second containing 44100 input frames maps to exactly 48000 output frames.
Assumptions and input details
Rates are positive whole frames/s up to 1e9; input frames 0–1e12. A sample frame includes all simultaneous channels, so channel count does not multiply duration. The ratio and count fractions use exact integers. Nearest output count rounds positive half ties upward. The duration difference is a floating-point estimate. Filter design, transition bands, interpolation kernels, startup delay and actual waveform resampling are outside this planner.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Reduced rate ratios and frame-count fractions use exact integer arithmetic. Displayed durations and duration differences use floating-point arithmetic.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Convert frame counts, elapsed seconds and timecode, or measure a start/end timecode span. Select exact fractional rates and an explicit drop-frame convention.
Estimate media file size from duration and average audio/video bitrates, or solve the video bitrate available under a file-size limit.
Find transfer time, required nominal speed or data size. Distinguish bits, bytes, decimal and binary units and include an explicit effective-throughput percentage.
