Calculation steps

How to calculate
Count end-month-anniversary deposits on or before each deadline. Grow the separately earmarked current balance and solve the equal-deposit future-value equation for that goal.
Required monthly deposit=max(0,target−current×(1+r)^N)/(((1+r)^N−1)/r)
Worked example
At zero growth, target 12000 in 12 monthly deposits with zero earmarked balance needs 1000/month. A second target 6000 in 24 deposits with 1000 already earmarked needs 208.333333/month.
Assumptions and input details
All goals begin at the entered start date and use distinct earmarked funds. First deposit is one calendar month after start; the original day is clamped to each target month’s last day. No partial-period growth after the last deposit date is modeled. 0–600 deposits; a goal before the first deposit needs to be funded already. Budget comparison is the initial combined monthly requirement; goal completion later frees deposits. Growth is an entered scenario before tax/fees. No live market data or national tax rules are inferred. Enter consistent amounts in one currency unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Model an initial deposit plus equal periodic contributions. Compare beginning/end contributions, nominal/effective annual rates, total deposits and before-tax growth.
Annualize recurring income and expenses, compare monthly equivalents and show the entered household surplus or shortfall.
Add balances in different currencies, including debts. Convert the total and compare a table and currency chart.
