How to calculate
Sum measured axial bead widths and entered spacing for one repeat. Fit whole repeats into length left after the clasp; leave any remainder unfilled.
Repeat run=sum(count×(bead axial width+spacing)); repeats=floor((target−clasp)/repeat run)
Worked example
One 8 mm bead and two 4 mm beads make a 16 mm repeat without added spacing. A 200 mm target with 20 mm clasp fits eleven repeats, uses 33 beads and reaches 196 mm.
Assumptions and input details
Bead widths are measured along the string path, not hole diameters. One spacing allowance is added after every bead, including the last in each repeat. The clasp contributes wearing length; tails add string material without increasing wearing length. No stretching, partial repeats, knot-consumption model, curved bead geometry or connector threading is inferred. Up to 30 bead types; counts per repeat are whole numbers.
Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
Choose from 23 length definitions, including explicitly labelled regional measures. Area conversions square the length factor; geometric volumes cube it.
Regional measures are not interchangeable merely because their names look similar. This is a documented selection, not a claim to include every historical unit.

Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
