Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Use the same redemption difference with face and purchase-price denominators, then compound the holding-period growth over the entered day basis.
Discount rate=(face−price)/face×basis/days; simple yield=(face−price)/price×basis/days
Worked example
Face 1000 purchased for 980 with 180 days and 360-day annualization gives 4% face-based discount rate and about 4.08163% purchase-price simple yield.
Assumptions and input details
These are explicit mathematical quotation conventions, not an assertion of any issuer’s regulatory investment-rate formula. Face and price must be positive; premium prices and negative yields are allowed. 1–3660 actual days. No coupons, fees, default or tax. Effective annual return assumes repeated identical holding-period growth, not an actual reinvestment opportunity. No live market data or national tax rules are inferred. Enter consistent amounts in one currency unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
