Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Normalize resistance multiplied by length to Ω·m; handle the area-over-length form explicitly.
1 Ω·mm²/m=10⁻⁶ Ω·m; 1 µΩ·cm=10⁻⁸ Ω·m
Worked example
1.75 µΩ·cm is 0.0175 Ω·mm²/m and 1.75×10⁻⁸ Ω·m.
Assumptions and input details
Resistivity is a bulk property, distinct from a component resistance in ohms. A circular mil is the area of a circle with diameter 0.001 inch, not a square mil. The input temperature and material state remain unchanged. No copper property, temperature correction, conductivity inference, cable size or safe current is selected.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
