Calculation steps

How to calculate
Deduct purchase fees once from initial funds. Each year apply the gross return, add the annual contribution, then deduct the annual percentage and fixed fee.
Closing wealth=(opening wealth×(1+gross return)+contribution)×(1−annual fee)−fixed fee
Worked example
Starting with 1000, no contributions and 10% gross return, a 1% year-end fee costs 11 in year one and leaves 1089; without fees wealth is 1100.
Assumptions and input details
Purchase fees apply only to initial funds; contributions have no separate purchase fee in this model. 1–100 whole years. A fee exceeding available assets is rejected rather than financed. Total fees paid and the final wealth difference are separate; the wealth difference also includes forgone growth. All results are before tax unless the entered cash flows already include it. No national rules, investment recommendations or actual market forecasts are supplied. No live market data or national tax rules are inferred. Enter consistent amounts in one currency unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
