How to calculate
Sum newly recorded normal seedlings without exceeding the sample size. Calculate the count-weighted observation day and a Wilson interval for the observed fraction.
Observed fraction=total germinated/sample; mean day=sum(day×new count)/total germinated
Worked example
From 100 seeds, new counts 20 on day 3, 40 on day 4 and 25 on day 5 give 85% observed germination and mean observation time 345/85≈4.05882 days.
Assumptions and input details
Enter new counts, not cumulative totals, with strictly increasing positive observation days. Up to 100 rows and 1e6 tested seeds. Mean time refers only to recorded germinated seeds and is undefined if none germinate. Wilson 95% interval assumes independent, representative binomial trials; it does not make this a certified seed test. Unrecorded seeds are not automatically classified dead. No species temperature, test protocol or future establishment probability is inferred.

Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Plan seed counts and whole packets using your entered usable fraction, germination and establishment assumptions.
Calculate exactly k, at most k and at least k successes in independent trials. Explore the binomial distribution, expected value and standard deviation.
