How to calculate
Convert the length or standard-acceleration numerator while retaining seconds cubed in the dimensional basis.
Jerk = acceleration change / elapsed time; 1 gₙ/s = 9.80665 m/s³
Worked example
1 standard g per second is 9.80665 m/s³. One ft/s³ is 0.3048 m/s³.
Assumptions and input details
Use the same signed axis component or nonnegative magnitude throughout. Standard g is the defined 9.80665 m/s², not local gravitational acceleration and not a gram. This does not estimate jerk from a sampled motion trace or determine ride comfort, motion-controller limits or peak acceleration.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
