How to calculate
Normalize the power numerator to watts and the length denominator to meters.
Linear power in W/m = value × watts per power unit / meters per length unit
Worked example
10 W/m is 3.048 W/ft. One W/cm is 100 W/m.
Assumptions and input details
This describes output per length, such as a stated heating-cable rating. It differs from total power, surface heat flux and thermal conductivity. The converter retains the entered rating and does not choose an installation temperature, cable specification, operating voltage or safe power. Btu means Btu(IT).

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
