Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Bring down one dividend digit at a time. Find the next quotient digit by whole division. Subtract the product and carry the exact remainder. Continue with decimal digits up to the display limit.
Dividend=divisor×integer quotient+remainder; 0≤remainder<divisor
Worked example
1000 divided by 16 has integer quotient 62, remainder 8 and decimal value 62.5.
Assumptions and input details
Integer inputs contain at most sixty digits. Up to thirty decimal digits are displayed; an ellipsis means the expansion remains unfinished. Decimal output is truncated at the limit, not rounded.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Divide signed integers with a nonnegative remainder. Verify the identity and use the same modulo convention for cyclic positions and clock arithmetic.
Add, subtract, multiply or divide fractions and mixed numbers. Follow exact fraction steps, simplification and a number-line diagram.
Compare a measurement with a reference or calculate symmetric percentage difference between two values.
