Measurement Interval Calculator
Propagate absolute measurement bounds through addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. See a guaranteed enclosing interval rather than a statistical confidence interval.

Calculation steps
Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.
How to calculate
Turn each nominal value and absolute error into a closed interval. Evaluate all four endpoint pairs. The smallest and largest corner results bound the operation; division requires a denominator interval that excludes zero.
A∈[a−δa,a+δa]; B∈[b−δb,b+δb]; result∈[minimum corner,maximum corner]
Worked example
(10±0.1)+(5±0.2) lies in[14.7,15.3]. Their product lies in[9.9×4.8,10.1×5.2]=[47.52,52.52].
Assumptions and input details
Fractions and decimals up to six places are accepted, with input magnitude at most1e6 and reduced denominator at most1e6. Exact fractions determine the result; decimal displays and diagrams are rounded. Bounds are nonnegative absolute quantities in the same unit as their nominal value. Convert units before entry. The two occurrences are treated independently, so A−A from the same physical measurement needs dependency information this tool does not model. These are worst-case closed bounds, not probabilities or standard errors.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Integer and fraction results are exact within the documented limits. Radical decimal values and plotted interval positions are approximate.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
