Calculation steps

How to calculate
Normalize energy, amount of substance and temperature-interval units independently.
1 lbmol=453.59237 mol; factor=energy/(amount×temperature interval)
Worked example
1 Btu(IT)/(lbmol·°F) is 4.1868 J/(mol·K). One thermochemical cal/(mol·K) is 4.184 J/(mol·K).
Assumptions and input details
Capacity is per mole, not per kilogram or per object. Pound-mole is explicitly 453.59237 mol. Btu(IT) and cal(th) use different defined energy factors. Temperature differences use 5/9 kelvin per Fahrenheit interval. Constant-pressure and constant-volume capacities are not interchanged, and no molar mass or material property is inferred.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
