How to calculate
Convert the energy numerator, volume denominator and temperature-interval denominator independently.
Volumetric heat capacity=value×energy factor/(volume factor×temperature-interval factor)
Worked example
1 cal(th)/(cm³·K) is 4.184 MJ/(m³·K). One J/(L·K) is 1000 J/(m³·K).
Assumptions and input details
This quantity is capacity per volume, not specific heat per mass or total object heat capacity. The entered material state, pressure and temperature basis remain fixed. A Celsius interval equals a kelvin interval and a Fahrenheit interval is 5/9 kelvin. Density is not inferred to convert between mass and volume bases.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
