How to calculate
Find the pixel diagonal with the Pythagorean theorem. Divide by the physical diagonal in inches for PPI. Use the pixel aspect ratio for physical width and height. Calculate horizontal viewing angle and average pixels per degree.
PPI=√(Wpx²+Hpx²)/diagonal(in); FOV=2atan(width/(2distance))
Worked example
A square 1000 by 1000 pixel screen with a 10 inch diagonal has about 141.421356 PPI.
Assumptions and input details
Square pixels, a flat panel and centered viewing are assumed. Pixels per degree is a horizontal average, not uniform local angular pitch. No eyesight, readability or visual-quality threshold is inferred.
Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
Choose from 23 length definitions, including explicitly labelled regional measures. Area conversions square the length factor; geometric volumes cube it.
Regional measures are not interchangeable merely because their names look similar. This is a documented selection, not a claim to include every historical unit.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Enter a screen diagonal and pixel resolution to calculate active width, height, aspect ratio, pixel density and pitch, with a dimensioned screen diagram.
Convert pixel dimensions, print dimensions and pixels per inch. Find physical print size, required whole pixels or effective image resolution.
