How to calculate
Normalize volume to cubic meters and mass to kilograms for the same stated sample.
Specific volume in m³/kg=value×m³ per volume unit/kg per mass unit
Worked example
1 ft³/lb is approximately 0.0624279606 m³/kg. One cm³/g equals one L/kg.
Assumptions and input details
Specific volume is volume divided by mass. It is the reciprocal of matching density for a positive value, but this tool changes units only. Temperature, pressure, porosity, wet/dry basis and gas reference conditions must already match. Ordinary mass pounds are used, and no sample density is supplied.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
