Calculation steps

How to calculate
Add month-start draws to opening principal, accrue one month’s interest, then apply entered month-end principal repayments. Either pay that interest in cash or capitalize it.
Interest=(opening balance+draw)×annual rate/12
Worked example
A 1000 draw at month 1 with 12% nominal annual rate costs 10 interest in that month. With no repayment, paid-interest mode retains principal 1000; capitalized mode closes at 1010.
Assumptions and input details
1–120 months. Repeated event months are combined; draws and principal repayments are nonnegative. Repayment exceeding outstanding debt is rejected. Draws accrue a full month’s interest and principal repayments occur after interest; no actual-day accrual, undrawn commitment fee, credit limit or loan approval is inferred. All results are before tax unless the entered cash flows already include it. No national rules, investment recommendations or actual market forecasts are supplied. No live market data or national tax rules are inferred. Enter consistent amounts in one currency unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
