Calculation steps

How to calculate
Use a constant daily consumption scenario. Calculate when stock reaches zero and when it reaches reserve; move the reserve date earlier by delivery lead time. Round the replenishment deficit up to whole packs.
Empty days=stock/daily use; order days=max(0,(stock−reserve)/daily use−lead); packs=ceil(max(0,reserve+use×coverage−arrival stock)/pack)
Worked example
30 items at 2 per day last 15 days. A reserve of 6 and 3-day lead time suggest ordering after 9 days. With 30-day coverage, buy 5 packs of 10.
Assumptions and input details
Starting date means midnight. Dates use calendar days, with fractional days rounded to the nearest minute. Zero daily use has no estimated depletion date. The pack recommendation assumes an order placed now and delivery after the entered lead time; the displayed reorder date is a separate future trigger. Stockouts during delivery are not backorders. No expiry, variable demand, opening hours or automatic order is modeled.
Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
