Calculation steps

Work through one step at a time or reveal the complete calculation. The steps use your current inputs.

    How to calculate

    Subtract consecutive readings and multiply by the entered conversion factor. If a reading falls, add one explicitly entered rollover modulus. Divide each period by its actual calendar-day count.

    Usage=(next−previous+one rollover if required)×multiplier; daily average=usage/calendar days

    Worked example

    1000→1120 over 10 days is 120 kWh, or 12 kWh/day. The next 90 kWh over 10 days gives 210 kWh in 20 days, averaging 10.5 kWh/day.

    Assumptions and input details

    Dates must strictly increase; use 2–100 readings. A falling value is rejected unless a rollover modulus is entered. At most one rollover per interval is assumed; a rising reading does not infer hidden rollovers. Meter replacement, reset, estimated readings, fixed charges, tiers, taxes and tariff changes are not inferred. Blank price stays unknown.

    Using this calculator

    Can I enter my own problem?

    Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.

    Are the results exact?

    Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.

    Is my input uploaded?

    The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
