Calculation steps

How to calculate
Treat the coefficient as relative dimensional change per temperature interval and normalize to 1/K.
Coefficient per kelvin=value/kelvins per selected temperature interval
Worked example
10 µm/(m·K), or 10 ppm/K, is approximately 5.55555556 µin/(in·°F).
Assumptions and input details
Use the same coefficient type throughout: linear, area or volumetric expansion coefficients are not interchangeable. Relative length ratios such as µm/m and µin/in are dimensionless microstrain. Temperature offsets are irrelevant for intervals. The converter does not select a material coefficient, infer strain over a temperature range or apply a factor of three.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Convert Celsius, Fahrenheit, kelvin and Rankine. Distinguish actual temperatures from temperature changes, and compare all four scales in a table.
Propagate absolute measurement bounds through addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. See a guaranteed enclosing interval rather than a statistical confidence interval.
Convert thermal conductivity between W/(m·K), Btu-based engineering units and thermochemical calorie units.
