Calculation steps

How to calculate
Express the entered constant speed in meters per second and divide by the target unit factor.
1 mph=1609.344/3600 m/s; 1 knot=1852/3600 m/s
Worked example
60 mph equals 96.56064 km/h and 26.8224 m/s. A knot is one nautical mile per hour.
Assumptions and input details
This converts speed magnitudes, with zero allowed. A nautical mile is 1852 m and an international mile 1609.344 m. It does not convert running pace, infer travel time, distinguish ground/air speed or account for currents and wind.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
Find pace, elapsed time or distance from the other two. Compare minutes per kilometer and mile, inspect split times and estimate constant-pace finish times.
Plan a sequence of entered distances, average speeds and breaks with dated arrival times.
Estimate trip fuel and optional cost from distance, fuel economy and your own fuel price. Compare km/L, L/100 km, US mpg and Imperial mpg.
