Calculation steps

How to calculate
Divide each row into whole equal spans, add end posts, total every wire line with two end allowances and round the batch into whole rolls.
Posts per row=ceil(row length/max span)+1; wire=sum(lines×(row length+2 end wrap))×(1+extra)
Worked example
A 10 m row at 2.5 m maximum spacing uses five posts. Three wire lines with 0.3 m allowance at each end need 31.8 m before extra batch allowance.
Assumptions and input details
Rows are independent; touching ends do not share posts. Post cut length is above-ground height plus entered buried length, not a burial-depth recommendation. Wire follows straight horizontal rows without sag or diagonal bracing. Inputs determine quantities only; no material strength, crop load, post anchorage, corrosion, tension or support-system suitability is inferred. Up to 50 rows. Roll counts round upward after the entered extra allowance.
Unit definitions
Unit selection is independent of language. Each selector contains only units for its physical quantity. Calculations use defined base units internally.
Choose from 23 length definitions, including explicitly labelled regional measures. Area conversions square the length factor; geometric volumes cube it.
Regional measures are not interchangeable merely because their names look similar. This is a documented selection, not a claim to include every historical unit.

Using this calculator
Can I enter my own problem?
Yes. Replace the example values with your own inputs. The result, calculation steps, tables and applicable diagrams update from those inputs. Blank or invalid values clear the result; example values are never silently substituted for missing inputs.
Are the results exact?
Results use floating-point arithmetic and displayed rounding. Read the formula, assumptions and any stated data precision before interpreting the result.
Is my input uploaded?
The calculation runs in your browser. No account, file upload or external AI service is required. Inputs are not saved between page reloads.
